Biography
Sunshine (originally founded as Lumi Labs) was a consumer software startup founded by former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer in 2018. The company focused on using artificial intelligence to simplify daily tasks, most notably through its contact management app, "Sunshine Contacts," and a later photo-sharing app, "Shine." The startup struggled to find significant user traction or a sustainable product-market fit throughout its seven-year existence.
Cause of Death
Sunshine was shut down as a business entity after failing to gain widespread user adoption. Marissa Mayer opted to dissolve the startup and transfer its assets and employees to her new AI venture, Dazzle, in a strategic pivot to focus on a new AI-powered personal assistant.
